Not everyone answered this group of questions with the largest response of 109 (out of 111) for piano. The lowest response, of 81, was for 'Single Type' (see below).
From all of the instrument options provided no-one disliked woodwind!
Confusion was raised by the question of 'Single Type' which was paired with the alternate of 'Wide Mix'. 'Single Type' was to represent a concert of one type of instrument such as all harps, or all recorders, banjos etc. A few of the common groupings were already included in the list such as string & woodwind. However, with the percentages being based on the number of respondents the figures shown below are still valid.
More than three quarters enjoy Piano, Woodwind, String and Harp and only two of the remaining choices are enjoyed by less than half of you.
Percussion is enjoyed by 29% and 'Single Type' by 28%. It is interesting to note that the alternate question of 'Wide Mix' only showed 54%; either this question wasn't quite understood fully, or that you don't enjoy too wide (or unusual) a mix.
A quarter of respondents disliked percussion with the next value for guitar being just 12% and all remaining instruments below 9%.
This seems to indicate that almost any instrument would be acceptable. However, some instruments were missed from this list and as you will see in the comments section some other options were suggested. Unfortunately, as these suggestions are made by just one individual this is not statistically significant.
Virtually all of the instruments listed are enjoyed by more than half of the respondents. Only one instrument had a significant dislike figure although even that quite is low. Interestingly, despite the comments in the Music Styles section regarding Jazz and Military Bands, the Brass dislike figure is not very high at 7%, although the enjoy figure is just 53%.
Although the instruments do pick up a certain significance as shown in the Reasons to Attend section, there is no instrument that is disliked particularly strongly. Percussion does register as 24% disliked, but we are hardly likely to put forward an evening of cymbal or drum playing!
